Help Build with Purpose get a $70,000 matching grant!
As we look back on 2013, it’s been an incredibly busy year. We celebrated our tenth anniversary in June and continued the development of four school projects helping to secure long-term space for 1,200 kids.
We also began building a new model of affordable senior housing with the adaptive reuse of a former convent. The first of its kind, The Senior Residence at St. Peter the Apostle, opened in August, and already we are seeing an immediate impact. Oversight for medications has corrected errors and because residents are eating better and socializing more, the need for insulin and anti-depressants is down. Loved ones routinely come by, and the once vacant building is now alive with activity.
We also now have an opportunity to upgrade the lighting, heating and cooling systems thanks to a grant opportunity through the NJ Office of Clean Energy. If we raise $30,000, we qualify for an additional $70,000 in energy improvements for a total of $100,000. That means your donation will have triple the impact! Funds raised will be leveraged by more than 2:1, provide our residents with a more efficient facility and decrease energy usage and costs by 30%. However, to do so, we need your help. If you or your firm is considering making a donation this year, we hope that you will help us to meet our goal. You can donate online below or click here to mail your donation.
Thank you for your support and best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season!
With sincere gratitude,
The Build with Purpose team
At Build with Purpose (formerly known as READS), we see real estate as a catalyst for social change.
Build with Purpose helps to build strong vibrant and healthy communities by providing real estate services to organizations and communities that lack in-house capacity. However, understanding real estate alone does not change communities or lives. Our Approach to Social Change uses real estate to build knowledge and shape healthier and greener communities.
Build with Purpose directly and indirectly develops a host of real estate projects including schools, affordable housing projects and nonprofit centers. Our work is holistic and goes beyond “bricks and sticks” to build knowledge and greater impact and social change across the communities we serve.
|Our Approach to Social Change|
While Build with Purpose’s work focuses on projects in New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Eastern Pennsylvania, we have worked in other states and communities where we have strong partnerships. We believe that real estate development creates a “virtuous circle” whereby real estate can help organizations to further their mission and have a greater impact on their constituents and their communities. We have worked with a variety of nonprofits and projects including schools, daycare centers, nonprofit centers, affordable housing development, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. More information about our work is described under Services, and our Portfolio includes detailed information on our projects to date.
